Panicking Americans who were seen living alongside the Pacific Coast were told to evacuate on an emergency basis, leading to fear and panic among the communities.
This led to people rushing on foot and cars to reach levels of higher ground after one of the biggest earthquakes in modern history struck Russia this morning.
Evacuation orders were issued for low-lying areas of Hawaii overnight, with sirens blaring across different parts of Oahu and residents seen scrambling to pack bags and flee inland.
Many residents were also seen racing for higher ground to stay safe as the first tsunami waves struck Hawaii on Wednesday morning. This rush triggered massive traffic jams that stretched for so many miles.
In Alaska, emergency management officials warned about powerful waves hitting within hours, urging coastal communities to stay alert. In California, Washington, and Oregon, beachgoers were urged to stay outside of the water as the tsunami watches stretched across thousands of miles of the coastline.
Many were also seen carrying food and bottled water as they feared a repeat of previous disasters. Others remain unfazed by the entire matter, as shown by one citizen who stayed calm despite the tsunami sirens blaring in the background.
