Henry Cavill could be the next actor to play James Bond after getting sacked from his Superman role.

The 39-year-old actor is rumored to be one of the primary candidates to fill in Daniel Craig’s shoes by becoming the next 007.

According to experts, Cavill’s chances of securing the role doubled after he was fired from Superman by the new Warner Bros. Films heads.

As William Hill explained, British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson remains the most likely candidate to portray the secret service agent in the upcoming movie.

Right behind him, however, is allegedly Cavill whose odds were slashed after his sudden increase in availability following the news that he would not be appearing in the next Superman movie.

The news comes just a day after Henry announced that he would not be wearing the Man Of Steel’s suit for another gig due to the new executives’ decision.

“I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran [the new DC Films producers] and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman,” he revealed in a statement.

“After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life.”

Cavill continued: “The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.”

While the actor admitted his “turn to wear the cape has passed,” he encouraged his fans not to forget that “what Superman stands for” will never fade away.

The dismissal from Superman comes shortly after Cavill presumably quit Netflix’s The Witcher to focus on filming the Warner Bros.’ upcoming DC movie.
