The Duke of Sussex was left heartbroken after his father, King Charles III, ordered the Queen’s initials to be removed from his military uniform.
The Blues and Royals No. 1 uniform was worn by Prince William and Prince Harry, but the Harry’s did not include the late queen’s royal cypher, a piece of hardware that consists of her initials.
Speaking to the Sunday Times of London, a friend of Harry said that the Duke was left heartbroken, adding that the removal of the Queen’s initials from his uniform seemed ‘very intentional.’
The source also said that Harry was devastated and even considered wearing another attire to avoid ‘humiliation.’
However, a Royal Family insider disputed the claim and said that the change in outfit was ‘never under consideration’ by Harry, who served during the Afghanistan war.
Roya Nikkhah, a royal editor at The Sunday Times, said: “The removal of “ER” from the Duke of Sussex’s uniform at the Queen’s vigil came in a “difficult” week where shows of royal solidarity have “taken effort” but “everybody is trying their best” to honor the Queen.”
The former working member of the Royal Family, who stepped down from his royal duties in 2020, was granted permission to wear his military uniform after an edict was reversed by King Charles III.
He and his uncle Prince Andrew wore their military uniforms when they attended Queen Elizabeth’s vigil.
One fan took to Twitter and shared a photo of Harry walking with working members of the Royal Family.
“When they refused for Prince Harry to wear his military uniform, he stood out like a King. When they allowed him to wear his uniform, he stood out like a King. Let’s face it, Harry just has that King energy,” the fan wrote.
