Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were ‘uninvited’ to a state reception for world leaders and foreign royals at Buckingham Palace, reports reveal.
It is believed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex received an invitation to the event, hosted by King Charles III and Camilla, the Queen Consort.
However, officials at Buckingham Palace insisted that the event was only for working royals.
US President Joe Biden, Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau, and French President Emmanuel Macron are among the heads of states who will attend Queen Elizabeth’s funeral on Monday, September 19.
World leaders, foreign royals and ambassadors will attend the event at the Palace where they will also meet the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Princess Royal as well as the Earl and Countess of Wessex.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the confusion over the Sussex’s invitation points to communication issues between the couple and the Royal Family.
This comes after a change in the decision over the Duke’s right to wear his military uniform despite stepping down from his royal duties.
It is understood that the Palace have intervened to let Harry wear his regalia to a 15-minute vigil at Westminster Hall.
Inside Westminster Hall on Wednesday, Harry and Meghan were emotional during the service led by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
After a blessing from the clerical head of the Church of England, the Sussexes walked out of the building holding hands.
Zara and Mike Tindal were also seen holding hands, while the Prince and Princess of Wales as well as the Earl and Countess of Wessex chose to avoid public displays of affection.
