Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to make their first public appearance since flying to Britain to attend the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations back in June.
Though they managed to maintain a relatively low profile during the last year, the Duke and Duchess are not done speaking out and addressing challenges the modern world faces.
On Monday, Prince Harry is set to deliver a speech at an informal gathering of the UN’s General Assembly in New York City.
The Nelson Mandela International Day, which serves as a tribute to the former South African President’s contributions to freedom and peace, will be celebrated by the General Assembly under the tagline: “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
While Meghan and Harry previously attended the UN’s General Assembly in September 2021, neither of them participated by delivering a speech. The couple also remained very silent during their trip to the UK back in June this year.
On the upcoming Monday, however, Prince Harry is set to speak out and deliver a speech that will likely be linked to the topic of climate change and world hunger.
“The South African Mission has confirmed the participation of the Duke and the Duchess at Monday’s commemoration,” a spokesperson for the UN told DailyMail.com.
While the Duchess of Sussex isn’t expected to deliver a speech at the high-profile event, it is believed she will accompany her husband to the assembly.
The event comes months after the two royals were spotted at the UN headquarters where they met with Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed who commended the couple for their efforts to promote vaccine equity, women’s empowerment, mental health, and climate change actions.
“It was a lovely meeting,” Meghan previously said of the meeting that took place during an assembly.
