The Duke and Duchess of Sussex ‘risk losing America’ if they do not stop launching royal attacks after the Queen’s passing, a PR guru has said.

Meghan Markle canceled her planned appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and paused her Archetypes podcast for several weeks.

Martin Townsend, a senior adviser partner at PR company Pagefield and former editor of the Sunday Express, said sympathy for the royals is at an all-time high and the Sussexes must avoid any criticism of The Firm.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Martin said: “Charles is the King and therefore automatically commands much more support than he used to.”

He also said that the support has increased due to the way he has led the nation in mourning.

“So if Harry and Meghan choose to attack all that now – they are going to look completely out of step,” he continued.

“The trouble for the couple, however, is that they only seem to be able to gain publicity for their salvos against the royals. Once that stops – what have they got left?” Martin questioned.

Reports suggest that the Duke of Sussex’s autobiography, ghost-written by Pulitzer Prize winning author J.R. Moehringer, has been set aside after his grandmother’s death.

However, the book containing ‘intimate’ memoirs has been submitted and approved.

Their interview with Oprah Winfrey is also believed to have upset Prince William and his wife Kate.

A source close to the Prince and Princess of Wales said to Telegraph: “It’s really hard to spend time with someone, or even to speak openly, when you know they’re writing a book about you and giving interviews. The trust is gone right now.”
