The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have flown back to the US an hour before the end of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration.
Prince Harry and Meghan were last seen in public at the Thanksgiving service in St. Paul’s Cathedral before they returned to America.
According to reports, the Sussexes spent a lot of time at Frogmore Cottage and hosted a ‘relaxed’ birthday party for Lilibet at the Windsor grounds.
The couple did not go to the Platinum Party and stayed in Windsor instead alongside Her Majesty to watch the concert.
Then, they drove to Farnborough Airport at 1:30 pm, one hour before the Pageant started at 2:30 pm.
This happened before the monarch returned to Buckingham Palace to thank all the well-wishers. She was surrounded by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William and Kate, and Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Meghan and Harry were left out of any official role during the celebrations. One staff told the Telegraph that the Sussexes wouldn’t be having ‘a prominent role’ in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
“The media might try to make them prominent but in reality they are not going to be playing a prominent role. A line has been drawn,” the aide said before the festivities.
The Platinum Jubilee Pageant was an entertainment for the royal family, who sat together alongside their relatives.
The parade told the story of the Queen’s life and the country.
“There was no fanfare, they just went. They didn’t stick around for the Platinum Jubilee pageant which is a celebration of Britain and all of its quirks and eccentricities over the Queen’s 70 year reign,” an insider said.
Harry and Meghan celebrated Lilibet’s first birthday in Windsor with a ‘relaxed’ garden party, which was also open to royal second cousins.
