Tennis superstar Roger Federer has decided to call it quits on the world of tennis, leaving his fellow archrival in the game, Rafael Nadal, in tears.
According to local media outlets, Federer was seen bidding a very emotional farewell to the world of tennis after the doubles defeat at the Laver Cup.
The Spanish tennis star says he can’t imagine the world of tennis without a superstar like Roger Federer and expressed his heartbreak at the decision.
He found it so hard to speak without getting emotional as tears could be seen rolling down his eyes, as the crowds cheered and applauded Federer for his wonderful contribution to the world of sport.
Nadal adds that people and players like Federer are hard to find in this world and he’s more than grateful to have played against him and also to have found a long-term friend in him.
This is a side to the player that not many have seen in public and it was refreshing for audiences to get a glimpse of such a heart-melting moment.
But it was not only Nadal who was crying. His partner Federer was right there. He couldn’t stop himself from getting emotional. The love, embrace, and warmth that the tennis world has given this superstar is truly incomparable to all others.
He’s a legend and people speak so highly of him. There must be a reason. And seeing his fellow colleagues acknowledge that on live screen was a delight.
Both Federer and Nadal were seen getting defeated by Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe. It was certainly not the end that he may have wanted but Federer must be so proud of himself.
