The police are on the hunt for a greedy couple who managed to eat a record 12 burgers in just six minutes and then left the eatery without paying.
According to local media reports, the couple is being deemed the United Kingdom’s greediest couple after they opted to chow down their fast food and have the audacity to leave without paying their due amount, which came out to be a total of 174 pounds.
Moreover, sources claim that the couple barged out after making bizarre claims relating to how they had finished their meal which was a part of an eating challenge.
The shocking and confusing incident took place at an eatery called ‘Bite Me Burger’ which is located in Marlborough in Wiltshire. They stated that they would like to participate in the restaurant’s burger eating challenge.
This was later revealed to be an offer put forward by the eatery where customers get the opportunity to indulge in eating one dozen burgers in a record time of six minutes without any cost if they manage to do it in time.
But the staff at the eatery claims that this challenge was only available for those who pre-book and hence when the couple stepped in, it was not on offer.
Moreover, the staff at the eatery revealed how the couple ordered 12 burgers for their party and ate them all. In the end, they refused to pay the bill, saying that they completed the challenge.
Now, the cops are looking at the incident as a clear sign of theft as the owner claims that the behavior was unacceptable.
“There was no challenge available at that time because you need to pre-book it beforehand. This way, we get to time the customers but in this case, there was no such thing. They owe me my money”- the furious owner revealed in a recent interview.
