Actress Goldie Hawn left fans stunned at this year’s Academy Awards after giving a heartbreaking health update.
The star took to the stage to present an accolade to Andrew Garfield and that’s where she was seen making the sad admission about her health.
The 79-year-old Oscar star stopped part of the way through her scripted presentation speech because she just couldn’t read what was written on the teleprompter.
‘I was so lucky to make movies, and make people laugh’- she said. ‘And maybe some didn’t, but that’s ok!’- she continued.
Then she is heard stating, ‘in the meantime’- and that’s when she pauses and turns to Garfield to mention, ‘ok, sweetheart, can you read that because I cannot!’- she added before going off the script.
She revealed how she was completely blind and didn’t claim that was a joke. Then she smiled and added how the cause of her poor vision was her cataracts.
Garfield tried to play the matter out as cool. He reassured her that he has her back and therefore she had nothing to worry about.
Cataracts usually impact any activity using the eyes, but it can make activities like driving and reading in the night particularly difficult.
