More than 50,000 people were believed to be evacuated after a fast-moving wildfire swept through the historic gold rush town in California.
The situation is expected to be less bleak as the wind speeds are expected to be much lighter, the director of the Cal Fire explained.
He shared how there was a robust response today and the responders were working to do great things to contain this fire.
Certainly, we are not out of the woods yet. More than 31,000 people were ordered to evacuate, and another 23,000 are currently under evacuation warnings. Parts of the Interstate 5 had been closed and would open shortly, he mentioned. A major 30-mile stretch of the major north-south artery had been closed for emergency vehicles and moving equipment.
Meanwhile, more than 50,000 people were said to be under evacuation orders or warnings as another huge wildfire swept through rugged mountains north of LA.
The fire has been dubbed, The Hughes Fire, and it’s a blaze that broke out on Wednesday, and it swiftly charred close to 15 sqaure miles of trees and brush near Lake Castaic, which is a famous recreation area. Firefighters were seen tackling the blaze and authorities had ordered thousands of people to flee their properties.
