King Charles has just marked his wife Queen Camilla’s 78th birthday with a bang, and that includes a new honor in the form of a title.
The 76-year-old monarch formally bestowed the famous title of Vice Admiral of the UK on his partner, just one day before her big day.
The move is said to be an unprecedented one as her Majesty is now said to be the first woman in the history of the country to hold his mega title. And it can only be appointed by a sovereign.
The new title must first be nominated by the First Sea Lord, who is a post currently held by Sir Gwyn Jenkins. Jenkins said the queen’s latest role would enhance her relationship with the service.
An official statement was sent out in this regard, which mentioned, ‘We are honored to welcome Her Majesty The Queen to HM Naval Base Devonport.’
It also mentioned how the Queen’s visit has been a tremendous morale boost, and it’s a great honorary appointment that reflects the high regard in which her Majesty is held by all of them.
This is not the first title that was received by Camilla from her loving husband. Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September of 2022, Charles famously named his partner Queen Consort, making her the first to get that title in nearly eight decades.
