One eight-year-old girl has tragically passed away after an illegal display of fireworks took center stage at the Fourth of July celebrations in Buena Park in California.
Sources from local media outlets shared how the family celebration soon went ugly when little Jasmine happened to be standing near a family friend who lit the illegal fireworks on Cornflower Circle.
All of a sudden, the entire display malfunctioned and started to fire towards the residence where Jasmine and others began to gather.
The police shared how the large illegal firecracker display was placed in the street by the homeowner, and it failed big time, starting to misfire towards the residence where the child happened to be standing.
The misfiring caused other illegal fireworks near the child to ignite out of nowhere. Responding officers were seen patrolling the entire neighborhood late Friday night.
This led to family members frantically transporting the child into the home before they stopped.
Sadly, despite applying life-saving measures, it was too late. Little Jasmine was rushed to the UC Irvine Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities confirmed that others nearby were not seriously injured during this tragedy.
