One of the youngest drag queens from the United Kingdom is breaking their silence regarding prom in a Barbie-inspired drag look with full support of their school.
Alfie Smith, who performed under the same name ESME Doll, says he is so proud of this achievement and wanted to show others that it’s okay to be different and unapologetically yourself. ‘My goal has always been to inspire a lot of people. And if I can achieve that one step at a time, then there is nothing better’- he shared.
The 16-year-old’s desire to attend prom as his authentic self was inspired by the hit musical Everybody’s Talking about Jamie, which was reportedly based on a real-life story of a teenage drag queen.
Speaking to media outlets recently, Alfie shared more details about how he felt so nervous at first while he was on his way to prom. He even started to question why he had chosen to go in a direction of drag.
But he did mention all of his concerns, which quickly disappeared in no time.
Sources added that he stepped out of the car and was greeted with a surprising welcome comprising of cheers, screams, and some of the biggest rounds of applause. ‘This reaction caused my nerves to fully go and made me realize that I went into drag for me and because I love this side to myself’- he concluded.
