A wildfire was seen reaching the northwestern outskirts of France’s second biggest city, Marseille.
According to reports from local media outlets, hundreds of firefighters were deployed to control the blaze that ravaged across the city and led to the closure of airports and train stations.
Life came to a standstill as the EU braces for the hottest and most unpredictable summer yet. Officials shared how residents were forced to enter a state of lockdown with more warnings about how the blaze might end up flaring up again.
Thankfully, officials did speak about how the blaze was receding, but there were alerts and advisories issued about how that might end up flaring up again.
Many returned to their homes and cars to find nothing but ashes. While no major fatalities were reported linked to human loss of life, property damage is said to be serious. Many shared how they no longer had a home or car, while others were grateful to be alive as the skies turned black and orange in no time.
