Hundreds of people were left without a home on Sunday after a series of tornados ripped through the state of Florida.
According to the reports, at least four twisters struck Florida on Sunday morning shortly after a powerful winter storm covered the eastern part of the nation in a blanket of snow.
During the Sunday tornado rampage, hundreds of homes and vehicles were destroyed or damaged, whereas at least four people were injured.
As per the initial official estimates, some 100 mobiles home and 65 houses from several different communities were destroyed.
In videos captured by the residents, the tornadoes were seen ripping through the land and wrecking everything in their path.
While two EF-0 twisters were recorded in Collier County, an EF-1 tornado struck Charlotte County. Another EF-2 or higher twister was also seen in Lee County after it touched down near Fort Myers.
The EF-2 tornado was responsible for destroying or damaging at least fifty homes and leaving hundreds of people displaced or homeless.
Recalling the time he thought he was going to die, an 81-year-old local, Edward Murray, revealed how the powerful winds tore his home from the ground.
“That’s my house that’s turned upside down. The tornado took me off my feet, blew me toward the east wall and buried me under the sink, refrigerator, kitchen chairs and everything else,” Murray told the Naples Daily News.
Fortunately, the elderly man and his daughter survived the disaster and crawled from the rubble after the tornado had passed.
“I was so happy when I saw the sky. I said to the devil, I said to the devil, ‘It’s not going to be today,’” Murray added.
Though the other three tornados were not as powerful as the one in Lee County, they too caused millions of dollars worth of damage as they ripped through dozens of homes and mobile homes.
Our thoughts remain with all of the victims and their families.
