President Trump has banned foreign nationals from carrying out their further studies at Harvard University as he continues to clash with the Ivy League institution.
The president issued an executive order on Wednesday that was entitled Enhancing National Security by Addressing Risks at Harvard University, which suspends the school’s student visa program.
It has been called a privilege granted by the government, not a guarantee.
He similarly doubled down on the claims that the school violated federal law and also argued that it’s important to restrict international students for reasons linked to national security on the same day that he chose to limit travel from nearly a dozen nations.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has long warned that foreign adversaries and competitors would be taking advantage of simple access to American higher education to, among other things, steal technical information and products.
There was so much research and development to advance their own ambitions and spread false data for reasons linked to politics, amongst other things.
Today, Harvard houses close to 6800 international students and makes up close to 27% of its enrollment in the past academic year, as per reports from the BBC.
About one-third of the international students hail from China, and Trump accused the Ivy League school in the past of coordinating with China’s Communist Party.
