President Trump’s ambitious new plan to design and build an extension to the White House is being shared.
Trump’s White House shared the shocking news during a press release this week, where they detailed more about the much-needed and exquisite addition to the White House Ballroom.
This is slated to span over 90,000 square feet and rest on top of the current East Wing.
In comparison, the Executive Residence, which is the main White House structure between the East and West wings, currently stands at just 55,000 square feet.
The capacity of this ballroom, which was described by Trump’s team as a modernization of the East Wing, is also a serious upgrade.
While the current event space in this Executive Residence, dubbed the East Room, can accommodate nearly 200 people, the planned ballroom is said to host nearly 650. The White House shared in its press release that, in the absence of a ballroom, overflow guests used to be hosted outside in a large and unsightly tent.
This new ballroom will be substantially separated from the main building of the White House. However, the theme and architectural heritage would be nearly identical.
