President Trump is set to receive an unprecedented gift from Qatar next week that would arise in the form of a flying palace or luxury jet.
This would be shared as he gears up to visit Qatar so soon, but the offer is reportedly yet to be accepted formally.
The press secretary of the White House, Karoline Leavitt, shared how any gift by any foreign government is usually accepted in full compliance with the applicable laws.
Therefore, she added how the current President Trump administration is committed to being fully transparent on the matter, and nothing would be taken or received behind the scenes.
Many are raising eyebrows or concerns on the matter. Some feel that it might be a form of bribery but Trump sees nothing wrong in taking a gift from another nation.
Some are questioning the legality linked to its acceptance. This is a sign that the administration might get more backlash as others are trying hard to determine why such a luxe gift is provided in the first place by a nation that they dub ‘jihadists in suits’.
She shared that due to the gift being non-conditional, it would not be linked to bribery, and therefore, such speculations should certainly be put to rest immediately.
Similarly, it would not run afoul of foreign gifts because the plane would first be handed to the US Air Force and then the presidential library foundation, not any one given source.
