A frantic scene was caught on camera when passengers were left with no choice but to evacuate from an American Airlines aircraft that took off from Denver International Airport on Saturday due to a major issue with the plane’s landing gear.
The issue was reported by the flight of American Airlines 3023 from Denver to Miami as it stood on the runway. The fire department in Denver shared how it extinguished the fire after responding to the aircraft.
All 173 passengers and six crew members were on board the Boeing 737 Max 8 and were safely removed from the plane. People were seen exiting on the emergency slide before running away from the plane as fire and smoke were seen under the aircraft.
Five people were evacuated but were not transported for further treatment. Meanwhile, one person was evaluated at the gate and was transported for medical attention for another minor injury.
The incident was reported to be the second one involving a major plane since Friday, when Southwest Flight 1496 from Burbank, California, to Las Vegas took a sudden nosedive to avoid a midair collision shortly after it took off. This caused the passengers to fly out of their seats and into the ceiling of the airplane.
