World-famous airline Emirates just made a huge change to its First Class Cabin, and it’s safe to say that the change is controversial.
The news is certainly not the best for parents who have young kids, that’s for sure. For anyone who opts to book the luxe cabin using Skywards Miles, whether it’s a full award ticket or an upgrade, they can no longer make use of it on kids below the age of eight.
The policy was shared as of August 15, 2025 but it doesn’t apply to tickets paid with cash as per One Mile at a Time.point 217 |
The latest change is only a limitation on accessing the cabin through miles using the Dubai based airline.point 89 | For now, it’s the only known carrier to enforce this rule, but critics fear that this might be the change that many other airlines are looking for so it might not be suprising to see others follow suit.point 260 | 1
Many have weighed in on the policy online, while some remain confused as to why this does not extend to tickets paid with cash, too. ‘The only controversial part of this is applying this only to the miles redemptions,’- one person argued.
‘Not allowing the children in the first class is so logical, and all airlines need to implement such policies’- one harsh critic shared. But they argued that when an airline does something that doesn’t hurt their bottom line, it becomes so clear that customer experience isn’t the reason why they are doing it.
