A massive explosion arose mid-deck on a burning ship at the Los Angeles Port.
That incident disrupted power and crane operations, as shared by the local fire department. Hazardous materials were located in different bays, and firefighters were seen working in full protective gear and had self-contained breathing apparatus by their side for assistance in combating the mega blaze.
All of the 23 crew members were accounted for, and there were no injuries from this electrical fire that seemed to have started below deck, as per the LA Fire Department. The cargo on the ship featured hazardous materials.
By nearly 7 pm, the fire ended up spreading to different levels on the ship, and soon after that, the explosion occurred mid-deck. This was not immediately clear who this fire began with.
‘First responders were found on the scene with more than 100 firefighters taking part to suppress this fire while Port Police were busy working to assist the crew towards safety’- LA’s Mayor mentioned in a post through X.
