At least 12 people were killed, including a gunman, and nearly 29 others were injured when two terrorists opened fire during the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah.
This was described as a cowardly attack on the Australian beach during the late afternoon hours. Shots began erupting at Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach at about 6:45 pm when a giant crowd started to gather to celebrate the first night of this popular holiday in an event dubbed Chanukah by the Sea 2025.
The New South Wales Premier shared during a press conference that this cowardly act of violence was so shocking and painful to witness, and it represents some of the worst fears linked to terrorism in Sydney.
Since then, the authorities have been heard speaking about how such an attack was created to target Sydney’s Jewish community on the first day of this event. ‘What should have been a night of peace and joy, celebrated in the community with families and supporters, was shattered by this terrifying evil attack, ‘ the statement added.
Thousands of beachgoers were seen fleeing as the gunfire rang out over the crowded beach.
The gunmen were seen donning dark shirts, and one of them had white pants on. They had perched themselves on a pedestrian bridge that happened to be overlooking Bondi Park and a road linking the area near the iconic coast.
