Four sisters between the ages of 2 to 7 were recently killed in a fire while left home alone in North Carolina with two 12-year-old girls, who escaped and called for help, as per authorities.
The girls, identified in a fundraiser as Kendall, Kalani, Josie, and Sophie, died in the blaze that ripped through their residence in Chadbourn around 2:30 am on Saturday.
There were no adults at home during that time, officials confirmed, without detailing where the other family members were.
However, two 12-year-old girls, one a sister, were able to escape and ask for help as the younger girls were trapped. ‘Due to the severity of the fire, it was not possible to make a safe entry into the residence,’ the County Sheriff mentioned.
It was not exactly clear how this fire began in the first place, and there have been no charges shared. The Tar Heel State does not have a huge age limit for when kids can be left alone.
‘Our community is facing serious and unimaginable tragedy’- the statement read in the joint news release by the family. We ask that everyone join together in support of the family and loved ones impacted by this devastating loss. The thoughts and prayers of our agencies are with them during this very difficult time’- it shared.
