Ellen DeGeneres just confirmed that she and her partner, Portia de Rossi’s decided to move to the UK due to Donald Trump’s reelection.
The comedian shared how they could not be happier with the move during a chat with British host Richard Bacon onstage in Gloucestershire on Sunday.
DeGeneres mentioned that while she only had initial plans of staying in the UK for a couple of months in 2024, the move became a permanent one quickly.
This was right after Trump won the election against Democratic nominee Kamala Harris. They now live inside a house they purchased in the Cotswolds of England.
‘We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis’- the celebrated talkshow host mentioned.
DeGeneres added how she and Rossi are loving the rural life in the UK with their animals, including horses and chickens. It’s really beautiful how we are now seeing beauty and peace and not worrying about anyone, she added.
Ellen also mentioned that everything in the UK is just so much better,r including the villages, towns, and architecture. She felt that nothing is better than peace of mind, which they did not feel in the US, and now that Trump is in charge, they vow never to return to the US again.
