Meghan Markle’s elderly father found himself trapped on the 19th floor of an apartment building in the Philippines after the most deadly earthquake in more than a decade struck, the Duchess of Sussex’s estranged half-sister revealed.
Thomas Markle, who relocated to the Philippines earlier this year, was still stuck on Wednesday after the 6.9 magnitude quake left dozens of people dead. Samantha Markle mentioned in a post on X regarding her 81-year-old father.
‘My father is stuck on the 19th floor of the building in the Philippines after a massive earthquake, and he cannot walk and he’s trapped’- she mentioned.
‘As of today, he is ok, and making plans to get out of that building. They seem to be safe right now, and hopefully and there will be no serious aftershocks. Provisions are being made so that he won’t be trapped in a similar situation again. God bless and stay safe, everyone!’
The retired television lighting director previously mentioned how he moved to the Philippines to begin a new and fresh life with his son, who is Thomas Jr, 58.
Meanwhile, rescue teams used backhoes and sniffer dogs to look for survivors in the collapsed homes and other damaged buildings, which was one day after the earthquake killed at least 70 people and injured more than 200 others.
