A government-appointed commissioner has defended the call to place a trans dad into a women’s prison after he abused his own daughter.
Dr. Anna Cody shared this week with the parliament hearing that she strongly felt that a convicted criminal like Autumn Tulip Harper was a trans woman and therefore needed to be placed in the right location.
Dr. Cody also made the starting confession after she was grilled by Liberal Senator Claire Chandler during the Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee hearing this past week.
Jacinta Allan’s government mentioned how it ended up allocating a massive $30k on top of the $75k it had provided to the trans firm Flat Out and its Beyond Bricks and Bars program last year.
Harper, whose real name is not this, was sent to prison on August 26. During his pre-sentencing hearing, the coordinator wrote more about how the sentencing for Harper’s sentencing was going to comprise a minimum jail term of 30 months.
“I accept that Mr. Gorrie has the expertise and experience to provide evidence on such issues, and his evidence was not challenged’- the Judge shared. This report indicated that all trans women who enter the women’s system are put in solitary confinement upon reception and remain there for anywhere from five weeks to the entire prison sentence.
