At the recent premiere of the latest movie, Jay Kelly on October 23, 2025, George Clooney was seen playfully commenting on how the audacious jewelry heist at the Louvre Museum in Paris was a great job or job well done.
The shocking incident that took place in broad daylight saw thieves make off with more than $100 million worth of jewels. Clooney who famously played professional thief Danny Ocean in the Ocean’s Eleven franchise was trying to take light of the situation with this joke but it didn’t seem to go down too well.
It rubbed plenty of people the wrong way, including fans who slammed the star for this behavior. ‘I am very proud of the thieves and they seem to have done a great job of getting away with it!’- he continued.
He also added with a grin that it was pretty cool though. When he realized that he might have said too much, he shared how it was terrible that it happened but also added if you’re a professional thief like he was, he would be so proud of everyone.
If that was not enough, he referenced the discussion of his upcoming movie Ocean’s Fourteen, which is currently in the works and expected to begin filming in 2026 with a cast that features hit names like Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and Matt Damon.
