The family who claims two young Black girls were ignored by a racist Sesame Place mascot is now planning to sue the amusement park.
As Leslie Mac from Philadelphia claimed, her 4-year-old grandniece was ignored by the Muppet character Rosita who failed to give the child a high-five despite standing right in front of her.
“I just wanted to just give a small recap of what’s been going on on the internet streets around sesame place and their piss poor behavior toward black children,” Mac said as she spoke out after the incident.
“If you haven’t heard, my great niece held her fourth birthday party at Sesame Place over this past weekend with her friends and their parents – and it didn’t end well.”
She went on to claim that the two girls were ignored despite being a part of a larger group due to their skin color.
Refuting these claims, the park explained that the incident is a “misunderstanding” as they insisted the mascots sometimes can’t see everyone because of obscured vision inside the costume.
The park further insisted that Rosita made the ‘no’ hand gestures several times – directed at no one in specific – after a mother in the group asked for the mascot to carry her child. The mascots are according to the park not permitted to carry children to avoid accidents.
The girl’s family, however, did not buy Sesame Place’s explanation and now revealed they plan on suing the theme park for alleged racism.
Mac has since also spoken out against her critics and threatened them with violence for not believing her claims.
“I wanted to put all of you charlatans, especially in the New York area, on notice. This is not a theoretical thing for me,” she said in her viral video.
“I will fly to Brooklyn to beat your a**, if you try and take advantage of my family – so I just wanted to make sure that’s very clear. I’m from Flatbush and I travel deep, so please don’t try me.”
She further insisted that since her decision to speak out many other reports and videos showing mascots at the park ignoring children of color have emerged.
“I think we’re up to like six videos that show blatantly performers at Sesame Place ignoring black children and non white children while giving attention to white children,” Mac claimed.
“In one instance, one of the characters slapped a little black boy in the head instead of giving him a high-five.”
