Stacey Doocey, 32, from Manchester, UK, spent more than a decade renovating her house in Cheetham Hill together with her children and later with her partner, 26-year-old Jayce Hogan and his son.

Just weeks before Christmas, after the family finally made the place into a dream home, the house burned to a crisp leaving the family with no belongings.

“We’ve lost everything. We just literally left the house with the clothes on our back,” Stacey said.

“Everything is absolutely destroyed. We’re starting everything from scratch – we’ve got one buggy from the house and that’s it.”

She added: “You never think it will happen to you. It makes me really sad, as we cannot replace everything we have lost all in one go – especially for the children.

“Christmas is going to be a struggle because we’ve put every penny into our house, replacing the interior and any essential appliances lost. We’ll be spending Christmas in a temporary home this year – but I’ll miss our old beautiful house which used to be filled with decorations we had collected.”

As the heartbroken mom said, they will have to “start from scratch” after putting years’ worth of savings and hard work into the house.

She also expressed heartbreak over losing “everything including sentimental items” and gifts that they bought for their children just days before the fire.

“Honestly, I’m scared of moving into a home of our own again in case this happens again,” Stacey says.

While the official cause of the fire remains unclear, fire officials believe that faulty solar panels could be responsible for the destruction.
