A young couple from Liverpool is being slammed for faking their engagement in return for a mega upgrade at London’s fanciest hotel, followed by plenty of free desserts too.
Rhian Smith and Harry Collins explained how they traveled to London for a splendid romantic getaway on the 3rd of December. And that’s when they suddenly brainstormed an idea they term to be an absolute genius, considering how it worked out well in their favor.
The couple says they faked their entire engagement for not only a room upgrade but also great service and free dessert at the super fancy Shard hotel.
“We believe in the saying, fake it until you make it and that’s exactly what we did,”- the duo stated.
Rhian Smith even went one step ahead and borrowed her mother’s ring as she made the trip away from home with a young man that she terms the love of her life.
The couple began their mission by taking plenty of photos where they appeared dressed smartly and in the mood of a fine dining and luxurious affair. “We were dressed in special black clothing, it was all tailor-fitted as we wished to create that entire mood,” they explained.
Needless to say, the couple did get credit for looking the part as they went away posting the successful con on their social media accounts too.
One picture was even captioned with how Rhian was borrowing her mother’s ring for this entire affair. “We’d like to get a bigger room and some free dessert please,” the couple requested. And believe it when we say that they scored well in that department.
As many people already know, staying at London’s fanciest hotel doesn’t come cheap and the more superior the upgrade, the higher the cost. But when you’re in love and supposedly engaged, the perks are plenty.
The best rooms with skyline views range from £795 to nearly 1045, not to mention the extra costs for added luxuries.
In the end, the couple made it a point to capture their ‘Congratulations’ written in chocolate as a kind gesture from the hotel for their engagement, which apparently never occurred in real life.
