A brave beauty queen has put all the negativity behind her, and that’s allowed her to win Miss England, despite being gay.
Yes, 20-year-old university student Grace Richardson has been crowned with the prestigious honor, and she says she couldn’t be more grateful.
She was picked on by cruel classmates and subjected to serious homophobic slurs when she came out five years back. She also says it was mostly boys at her school who ended up targeting her over her sexuality and even rolled out so many taunts against her.
They felt like she was ugly and too skinny, but the part-time model mentioned how she’s had the last laugh after being crowned Miss England, and she now hopes to inspire others in the same LGBTQ community and break down stereotypes surrounding gay individuals.
‘Knowing that I am able to share my story and represent a huge part of the community that has not been represented in this manner before is so special and really meaningful, she added.
‘It’s so important for young people in the LGBTQ community to see people representing them in different walks of life,’ she added. “I have not seen anyone in pageantry speak about sexuality in the manner that I have, so it’s important to me for them to be seen”- the post went on to read.
