Europe Boils in Highest Temperatures As Wildfires Rage Across Continent


Europe was hit by record-high temperatures as a deadly heatwave swept over the continent recently.

Spain is all set for its hottest day in June on record, with the temperatures hitting 46 degrees centigrade.

The previous record was 45 degrees centigrade that was set for Seville nearly six decades ago.

Spain’s state meteorological agency shared how the latest heatwave would persist for a few days.

It’s a new record high for June, and similar temperatures were recorded for Mora in Portugal on Sunday as per the national meteorological agency.

Seven regions in central and southern Portugal, including the likes of Lisbon, were put on red alert for the second day running on Monday, with fire warnings in many forest regions.

Authorities advised people not to go out during the hottest hours as reports of heat strokes and burns took hold.

Britain was similarly sweltering in near record-breaking temperatures, with sunseekers across the nation heading towards the seaside to cool down.  The southeast recorded the highest figures with the mercury levels hitting 34 degrees centigrade on Monday afternoon.
