Emma Stone Takes Home A Golden Globe Before Her Movie Wins ANOTHER Major Award


Emma Stone took home the Best Actress Golden Globes Award for her role in the 2023 comedy/fantasy Poor Things.

In the movie, which the 35-year-old actress branded as a rom-com, Stone played Bella Baxter/Victoria Blessington, a woman brought back to life by Dr. Godwin Baxter, an unorthodox scientist portrayed by Willem Dafoe.

After beating out the competition which included Margot Robbie of Barbie, Natalie Portman of May December, Fantasia Barrino of The Color Purple, Alma Pöysti of Fallen Leaves, and Jennifer Lawrence of No Hard Feelings, Emma received a standing ovation.

In her acceptance speech, the actress thanked her husband, Dave McCrary, as well as her co-stars and the rest of the crew for making all of this possible.

“Thank you. Oh, boy. Thank you very much. This is amazing. Thank you. Dave, I have to start with you really quickly. I love you so much. Thank you for everything,” she said.

Stone also touched on the much-discussed topic of the movie’s genre as she branded the film as a rom-com.

“I think this is a rom-com. I see this as a rom-com, but in the sense that Bella falls in love with life itself, rather than a person, and she accepts the good and the bad in equal measure, and that really made me look at life differently,” she added.

“Not all of it counts, and all of it is important. She has stayed with me deeply. So this means the world to me. Thank you so much, and, okay, bye. Thank you.”

Shortly after Emma’s speech, the movie earned a top honor as it won in the Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category after beating out American Fiction, Air, Barbie, May December, and The Holdovers.
