President Donald Trump previously hinted at running for another term despite being barred from the US Constitution from doing so.
Trump offered his clearest indication yet about how he’d like to leave the White House at the end of his second term without trying to extend his stay.
He acknowledged more about the constraints stopping him from getting another term under his belt in an exclusive interview with NBC News.
Trump also shared how he feels there are so many other great contenders in the running from the Republican side that he felt could carry the MAGA mantle after he is done and over with as the leader of the GOP.
This includes JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who he claims has become more of a central player during his second administration.
‘I will be an eight-year president, I’ll be a two-term president. I always thought that was very important!’- Trump shared during his Meet the Press briefing.
Speaking during another interview in March, he mentioned how he was not joking about considering a third run, and he shared during his latest interview that he’s received strong requests from allies to run again.
Despite those entreaties, Trump shared how he’s well aware of the realities standing in the way. He agreed with the 22nd Amendment, which does not allow anyone to be elected into the office of the President more than twice.
