BREAKING: Emergency Tsunami Warning Issued After 7.0 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes


An emergency tsunami warning has been issued by authorities after a mega earthquake struck the Solomon Islands, moments after midday.

The warning came through by the American Tsunami System which says the probability was high after an earthquake took place at a place called Malango in the islands at about 1 pm local time.

Meanwhile, another earthquake managed to strike nearby around half an hour later. At least five quakes were recorded over a period of 90 minutes in that particular destination, as confirmed by local media outlets.

The magnitude of the natural calamity was reported at about 56 kilometers towards the southwest district of the capital city of Honiara, as confirmed recently by the American Geological Survey.

Thankfully, Australia is not under the threat of a similar natural disaster, the agency went on to report, bringing relief to many Australians present nearby.

On the other hand, the country’s Prime Minister was seen speaking about how the national parliament discussed during the afternoon hours that the High Commission’s roof had collapsed due to the impact of the disaster. Therefore, now, all staff members were looking to confirm the safety situation that occurred as keeping all Australians safe was their top priority at the moment.

The disaster caused a major disruption to phone lines that reportedly went down. Hence, no communication in the area made it worse to carry out rescue and relief, the Prime Minister went on to mention.

Australia says it is on standby to assist in case of an emergency and they also recalled how they were going to play a very integral role in the Solomon Islands.
