Elizabeth Kadlecik who hails from Slovakia was reportedly born with extremely dry skin that soon turned into a hard turtle shell-like texture.

“Doctors told me that my baby girl had no chance of survival and that’s when I knew I had to prepare for the worse”- explained the child’s mother in an emotional tone.

Her skin was so thick that it was best compared to that belonging to a turtle’s shell.

While it was not easy for the child’s parents to listen to what doctors had to say, they continued to hope and pray for a miracle and that’s exactly what they got in the end.

Born in Slovakia in June of 2020, little Elizabeth was diagnosed with the rare disorder known as harlequin ichthyosis.

Usually, children with this disorder are premature at birth and have a thick skin covering their whole bodies. In addition to that, the skin also forms giant diamond plates that are usually separated by deep fissures or cracks.

Her mother Natalia best describes her baby as a turtle, adding how she was enveloped in a thick and hard crust.

“Her breathing was so constricted. We rushed her to the ICU and she stayed there for five weeks because the skin was tightly wrapped around her that it made the breathing so much worse”- mom Natalia explained.

Every hour, she needs eyedrops and gels in her eyes so she can close her eyes. Other than that, the little baby girl requires long baths, at least two per day, with plenty of exfoliation to remove the dead skin in extra amount.
