At least four people were killed and at least 20 were injured, four of them critically, after a mass shooting incident took place at a bar early Sunday morning.
All four victims were found dead at the scene of the crime after at least one shooter opened fire on the crowd of hundreds during the shocking attack at Willie’s Bar and Grill on St. Helena Island just before 1 am, as confirmed by the Sheriff’s Department.
After arriving at the scene, deputies were seen making contact with a huge crowd of people, several of whom were said to be suffering from gunshot wounds, the statement mentioned.
“It was learned that hundreds of people were at the location when the shooting took place. Several victims and witnesses ran to the nearby businesses and properties seeking shelter from the gunshots, the statement added.
No arrests have been made so far, but the authorities mentioned how they are now investigating the person of interest. The victims were rushed to the hospital by Beaufort County EMS on Sunday morning. Their names were yet to be released, and the exact circumstances behind the shooting are yet to be known at this moment in time, the sheriff’s office mentioned.
