A small private plane crashed into a silent military housing neighborhood in southern California during the early morning hours.
The police have confirmed that the Cessna 550 plane crashed in the San Diego Murphy Canyon neighborhood at about 3:47 am during a moment of intense fog.
A mega fireball arose after the crash, setting several homes and vehicles on fire. As per officials, at least 15 properties were impacted as a result of the crash.
Neighbors spoke to NBC7 and reported how they heard a huge boom and their walls started to shake due to the aftermath of the incident.
That is when they started to see a huge blaze as plumes of smoke filled the air. Another local shared how the eruption was more like an explosion or fireworks, causing fear and panic to grip the surrounding area.
Officials have yet to release the total number of people on board the plane, but claim the search for the pilot and potentially any survivors is currently on the rise.
First responders have arrived at the scene but have not transported anyone from the scene so far. For now, the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
