Johnny Depp’s blockbuster defamation case has come to an end with the jury ruling in the actor’s favor.
On Wednesday, the jury awarded Depp $15 million in compensatory and punitive damages while Heard was awarded zero in punitive damages and $2 million in compensatory damages as part of her $100 million countersuit.
Though the jury awarded the actor $15 million, the judge was forced to reduce the $5 million in punitive damages to just $350,000 due to Virginia’s state law, bringing the total to $10.35 million.
Following the verdict, social media erupted with comments and remarks about the trial and Depp’s star attorney Camille Vasquez who has been branded as a superhero by the actor’s fans.
Throughout the high-profile trial that was witnessed across the globe, the rising star attorney became wildly popular among Depp’s fans due to her forensic cross-examination of Amber Heard and her witnesses, her unforgiving objections to hearsay and leading, and her grilling of Depp’s ex-wife on the stand.
In a tribute to Vasquez, social media users called the aspiring attorney everything from amazing to iconic as they suggested she “obliterated” and “annihilated” Heard with her questions.
“Iconic. No matter the outcome, Camille, you did Johnny and ACTUAL victims of domestic violence well. Take a bow my queen,” one person wrote.
“Camille Vasquez gave Johnny Depp the voice he never had against Amber Heard’s vicious claims. You can tell how much she feels for him and how much she wants justice for him,” another said.
“Camille Vasquez is definitely one of the best lawyers I’ve ever seen. She’s absolutely annihilating Amber Heard. OMG!” the third suggested.
One Depp fan wrote: “Camille Vasquez did not come to play. She came to exact justice. Watching her is a win for all women. I feel powerful watching her work. She is a beast!”
Following the verdict, Johnny Depp has also spoken out and thanked the jury for giving his life back to him.
“Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people who for many, many years have supported and believed in me were forever changed,” Depp expressed.
“And six years later, the jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled.”
