Johnny Depp is reportedly appealing the $2 million ruling that was ordered by the court to pay Amber Heard in the former couple’s defamation trial.
The 59-year-old celeb has appeared in the mega $2 million and called it erroneous. Sources claim the celeb is not happy with the decision because he feels that since the jury did rule in his favor, he shouldn’t be paying a single penny.
The paperwork was reportedly filed in Virginia recently after Depp and his legal team sat down again to discuss the matter and debate on how incorrect of a ruling it was and hence they would be appealing it in the end.
Amber Heard ended up winning one of her three countersuit claims which alleged that Johnny Depp’s lawyer defamed her when she spoke about the fact that she had filed a claim but he called her out there and then.
Johnny Depp’s current counsel mentioned how he didn’t need to pay because of a statement made by his lawyer regarding the ordeal.
Meanwhile, the actress’s legal time filed another appeal in Fairfax in Virginia recently where the trial was held during the early parts of this year.
In the trial, Depp was awarded more than $10 million in damages by the jury. This was reported to be paid by the actress’s team and her estate.
The brief also went on to allege how Amber Heard and her team’s representation arguments during this trial were super flawed. Now, the actor has reportedly alleged that he has no business paying the actress any penny as he has the majority.
At the end of the trial, the actress was only awarded $2 million from the $100 million that she sought.
