Two regional Delta jets full of passengers and crew ended up colliding at low speed while taxiing at the LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday night.
The incident left one person injured as per authorities. The wing of the Endeavor Air 5155, departing for Roanoke, Virginia, collided with the fuselage of Endeavor Air flight 5047, arriving from Charlotte, North Carolina, on the airport’s taxiway just before 10 pm.
A flight attendant on board one of the planes was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No passengers were injured during this collision as per the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and Delta.
Photos and videos shared to social media captured emergency vehicles rushing towards the two CRJ-900 regional jets on the taxiway of the Queens airport. Additional photos showed the nose of one of the planes visibly dented.
CBS News producer Joey Annuziato, who was a passenger on the flight from Charlotte, described the absolute chaos inside his plane’s cabin after this collision as super jarring.
‘We got absolutely smashed by another Delta flight. I don’t know if we hit them or they hit us. But it was just a lot to take in, the comments shared on the X social media platform read. He recorded the incident from his seat moments after the impact ensued.
