Man on Delayed Honeymoon Dies After Being Struck by Lightning in Ankle-Deep Water at Beach


A 29-year-old man has reportedly been killed in a tragic incident during his honeymoon.

The victim was identified as a tourist who traveled to Florida with his lover. Unfortunately, his moments of happiness were short-lived after he passed away due to a lightning strike.

The man was a resident of Colorado who happened to be visiting the area. He passed away on Smyrna Beach on Friday as per reports from NBC affiliate WESH.

Sources shared how he happened to be standing in ankle deep water at the time of the incident. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition after bystanders performed CPR on his body.

The director for the Volusia County Beach Safety shared that the cause of death was lightning, and he passed away from his injuries due to the haunting lightning strike.

Two more people were struck by lightning in the same area on the same day as per reports from local media outlets. Thankfully, they survived, and neither person was hospitalized due to it.
