Seven people are dead after a Dodge Ram pickup truck and a tour van collided near Yellowstone National Park, the Idaho police have confirmed.
The deadly collision took place around 7:15 pm on a highway near Henry’s Lake State Park, which is located nearly 16 miles west of Yellowstone.
The driver of that van passed away, alongside six people inside the van, the Idaho State police shared.
The van was carrying 14 people in total, and it was said to be driving a tour group, as per the cops.
A preliminary investigation shared how both vehicles were caught on file after colliding, as per the Idaho State Police.
Emergency crews and an air ambulance responded to the scene. Officials are now busy releasing the names of the victims once their families have been informed.
Police are now investigating the cause of this crash.
US Highway 20 remains fully closed while first responders investigate the incident. For now, no expected timeline was shared regarding the opening. Yellowstone National Park covers about 3500 square miles. The majority of the park is in Wyoming, though it stretches into both Montana and Idaho.
