The family of slain Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska is demanding justice for the murder of the 23-year-old, who was ruthlessly and randomly killed on a light rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina, last month.
Zarutska was stabbed to death by a repeat offender named Decarlos Brown Jr, 34, in a horrifying killing that was caught on camera. This has left the family furious, saddened, and shocked, calling it a result of systemic failures in the city’s public safety.
The mother of the victim says that the criminal should never have been released in the first place, considering his long history of offenses and criminal activities that warranted a full check before he was allowed to roam around freely.
Meanwhile, the mother of the accused has also broken her silence on this incident. She shared how she tried her level best to get her son help to deal with his schizophrenia, but was turned away.
In a new and exclusive interview with The Post, Michelle Dewitt also mentioned that it’s a fact that her son should not have been walking free, as his mental health was rapidly deteriorating.
‘He should not have been released, adding how he was free on a written promise to appear for a court date after his latest arrest in January.
