High School Sweethearts Get Second Chance At Love ’39 Years’ After Being Forced Apart

Two young teenagers reportedly fell in love after being forced apart by their own parents. But about four decades later, the duo found one another in a manner like no other.

This story dates back towards the end of the 1970s and that’s when 16-year-old Penny was warned by her father about starting a relationship with a man who was black.

Mark Bethel met Penny when he arrived to study at the same private school in Nottingham, which was reportedly far away from his residence in the Bahamas.

The duo fell in love and that’s when Mark got back home. They both wrote love letters and even sent each other cute poems and paintings too. Things were going well until he had to return via a scholarship to attend a London university.

While Penny tried her best to keep in touch with him by attending the polytechnic college that was located at a nearby distance, just so they could be together.

Everything seemed to be going great again but all of a sudden, Mark informed Penny about how he would be ending their affair soon, without providing any valid reason. The news shattered Penny and even tried to take her own life.

In reality, it was Penny’s dad that broke their relationship. The duo tried to move on in their lives and that’s when Mark got married and separated twice while Penny entered and then exited from a serious relationship.

Mark was threatened over the years by Penny’s father and warned to stay away. Similarly, Penny was also disliked by Mark’s parents and the sole reason being the vast difference in their race and skin color.

But 40 years later, Mark managed to track Penny down and confessed his love again. He proposed and she said yes, adding how she’d never felt the same way for anyone like this before.
