Pope Francis reportedly spent the morning resting after his breathing worsened the day before, as per the Holy See which shared a new update on his health.
The briefing stated that after a quiet night, the pontic was resting after another scary episode related to his health.
Despite doctors calling his condition stable a few days back, his breathing started to deteriorate and that’s why they had to use assistance from a ventilator to breathe.
Sources mentioned how he suffered from isolated bronchospasm and was being given non-invasive mechanical ventilation, and therefore he did show a positive reaction to that.
His gas exchange levels were said to return back closer to their original levels before the deterioration in his health on Friday.
Vatican News shared that they would need one to two more days to assess the results and give out another briefing about his wellbeing.
The Pope’s crisis was described as isolated but accompanied by vomiting. The Vatican called it the sudden worsening of his respiratory condition.
On that note, the Pope’s lungs had to be aspirated so that all the vomit could be cleared out. Despite all of this, he remains alert and in good spirits.
