Jimmy Kimmel became audibly choked up and very emotional as he returned to air on Tuesday night, assuring his audience that it was never his intention to make light of the murder of a young man.
The late-night talk show host was suspended indefinitely last week after making some major comments about the death of MAGA commentator Charlie Kirk, who was greeted by two lengthy standing ovations as he kicked off his show. The star thanked his fans, friends, and more on the other side of the political aisle for their unwavering support.
‘If you like me, you like me. If you don’t, then you don’t!’- he revealed. The star then stated how he’s got no illusions about changing anyone’s min,d but seemed to break down when he added that he wished to make one thing very clear.
This had to do with how he’s a human and wanted the world to know that he never intended to make fun of a murder or show insensitivity over the matter.
During an episode of his show on Monday, he was seen accusing Republicans of making use of Kirk’s death to score political points. He also mentioned that President Trump was grieving the conservative activist’s murder, ‘the way a four-year-old mourns a goldfish!’ – he added.
The remarks were not taken lightly by many, who slammed him for showing this side. Amongst those deeply offended was Donald Trump’s administration including the American head of state himself. He called for firing and cancellation of his show.
