A plane has reportedly crashed into a residential area outside the capital of Kenya, leaving at least six people dead.
The mid-sized jet, which belonged to an air ambulance service, had taken off from Wilson Airport in Nairobi at 2:14 pm and was said to be heading towards the territory of Somaliland.
The Cessna Citation XLS plane crashed into buildings in the residential area of Mwihoko in Kiambu County just 40 minutes after that.
Local police commander Anthony Keter shared more details about the accident, including how it occurred near the Morendat Farm on the northeastern side of Lake Naivasha. A Red Cross worker at the scene told Reuters: ‘So far, we have recovered up to four bodies’- they shared.
A local official from the Kiambu County Commissioner, Henry Wafula, explained to reporters at the scene how four people were on board, including a pilot who was killed in the crash.
Two other victims were inside the house into which the plane crashed, he revealed. He also spoke about how two people had been seriously injured in the aftermath of the tragedy. One witness shared more details, including how they had heard a loud sound, then saw a huge fireball explosion take center stage with scattered debris across the neighborhood.
