In the wake of this deadly Minneapolis Catholic Church shooting carried out by Robin Westman, who identified as a trans woman, DOJ officials were seen mulling options at the Trump administration and how they can restrict 2nd Amendment rights of some Americans, sources familiar with the talks mentioned.

In the wake of the deadly shooting in Minneapolis, some members feel the move can be approved as a follow-up on Trump’s executive order that barred military service by trans individuals.
One option might see Trump formally declare that people who identify as trans are mentally ill and are not legally allowed to possess firearms, according to one Justice official. The controversial move has gained steam among conservatives following Westman’s rampage at the Annunciation Catholic Church, where the shooter took the lives of two kids and injured 21 more.
Senior White House officials cautioned that any proposal to ban weapons would likely run into a major array of legal complications, as per The Post.
Federal Law requires that only a judge can declare someone as mentally defective and strip them of their right to own firearms.
